About Me
Hi! I’m Kerrie Green, “KG,” and I’m so happy you’ve touched in. For a long time, I really worked hard to “fit in” - to live up to expectations and ideals for a white, assigned female at birth person growing up in the southeastern United States. I spent many years feeling like I just didn’t measure up - or that there was something wrong with me. So I hid my identity and tried hard to squeeze into those expectations - like wearing too-small shoes. Overperforming and people pleasing, doing the most, and still feeling like I didn’t deserve a seat at the table. It was exhausting and anxiety-producing
Slowly, through lots of trial and error, I’ve found a path forward, found my people and settled into my skin. Lots of life transitions have changed me in profound ways: choosing a partner, having and raising a child, leaning into my identity as a nonbinary person. As a therapist, I am trained to use the therapeutic relationship to create a holding space for you to explore - without judgement and with lots of support - who you are, how you move through the world. Trauma and shame have ways of keeping us locked-in-place, using old strategies that had their usefulness at one time, but hold us back when we’re ready to grow. We’ll honor those old strategies - they kept us safe and surviving! We’ll also test out new strategies together.
In nearly 20 years of working with families and individuals, I’ve developed a way of working that is very relationship-centric. All growth happens in the context of relationships - the way we perceive the world and our place in it, and the way we perceive ourselves. Healing happens in relationships too. Attuning in relationship to others and our own selves has the potential to give us the courage to try new skills, to fail safely, to learn, adjust and try again.
I am a white, middle-aged, non-binary parent, living on the stolen lands of the O’odham and the Yaqui people. I am a work-in-progress, continually growing and learning. I am so looking forward to engaging in this growth process with you!
